What are Adjustment Disorders?

Adjustment disorders are emotional or behavioral reactions to a stressful event or change in your life. This response is greater than what is typically expected for the situation and can significantly impact your daily functioning, relationships, and emotional wellbeing. While your reactions to these stressors may sometimes not warrant a diagnosis of PTSD, they can still feel traumatic for you. Whether you are facing strong reactions to a major life transition, a health challenge, a relationship change, or any other significant stressor, these bigger reactions are both common and treatable.

How Isaacs Psychology Can Help

Re-Establish Safety and Competence

We offer tailor-based sessions that utilize evidence-based strategies to help you rebuilt any sense of safety, trust, competence, or confidence that might have been lost as a result of enduring the stressor.

Evidence-Based Strategies

Using CBT, ACT, and CPT techniques, we help you process life events, develop coping mechanisms, and engage in problem solving to manage stress effectively.

Build Resilience

Our focus is not just on symptom management, but on helping you build the internal strength to navigate future challenges. Emotional vulnerability, and going through the tricky parts of therapy, can be facets of resilience by themselves, and we focus on these areas of growth and strength in our work together.
