Trauma and PTSD Assessments

At Isaacs Psychology, we offer comprehensive clinical assessments for trauma and PTSD. We understand that exploring these experiences requires a validating approach that respects your story and your pace, and one that collects and synthesizes your story in a thorough and complete way.

What to expect during your assessment

  • Initial Conversation: An informal and guided discussion to review your concerns, history, your trauma(s) and their impacts, daily functioning, challenges, and strengths.
  • Structured Interviews: We use validated clinical tools to understand your unique symptom profile. At Isaacs Psychology, we have specialized training in trauma assessment tools (such as the CAPS-5).
  • Self-Report Questionnaire: You know yourself best, and our assessments make sure to include questionnaires that you complete about your symptoms and experiences.
  • Collaborative Results: We synthesize all of our discussions and assessment tools into a comprehensive report that becomes available for you to use and share as you see fit.
  • Guided Feedback: In addition to a written report, we also have a shared discussion and feedback session that reviews a summary of the report/findings, as well as practical recommendations and next steps.

Your Safety First: Pacing and consent are central to everything we do. You are in control of the process, and we prioritize creating a space where you feel safe and heard.

How an Assessment Can Help

Clarity and Diagnosis

Identify the root causes of your symptoms and receive a clear clinical diagnosis (if warranted) to better understand your experiences. Whether a diagnosis is applicable or not, you can anticipate gaining a better understanding of yourself and your future steps.

Treatment Planning

If you move forward with treatment with us, we would develop a focused, evidence-based treatment plan tailored to your specific needs, facilitating faster and more effective recovery. Either way, recommendations would be shared for you to take forward with you.

Care Coordination

Sometimes assessments are requested from third parties, and sometimes you have a team of specialists working with you. In either case, a primary goal is to facilitate communication and collaborative care with other providers as wanted or indicated.
