What is Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)?

Trauma can change how your see yourself, others, and the world around you, often leaving you with 'stuck points' that make it hard to feel safe or trust others. CPT is a journey of reclaiming your perspective. It normalizes these reactions and works toward the goal of helping you process trauma so it no longer controls your daily life.

Grounded in Science

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a specific type of cognitive behavioral therapy that has been shown to be effective in reducing symptoms of PTSD and trauma. It focuses on how traumatic events interfere with your beliefs about yourself and the world, helping you change the way you think about your experiences.

Trauma Education

Learning how PTSD affects the brain and body. For example, understanding why loud noises might trigger a panic response even when you are safe.

Challenging Stuck Points

Identifying thoughts that keep you 'stuck' in the trauma, such as 'It was my fault', 'no one can be trusted', or 'I am permanently broken.'

Examining Beliefs

Looking at how the traumatic event(s) might have impacted your sense of safety, trust, power, esteem, and intimacy in everyday life.
